In Haiti, $51 can purchase five cans of infant formula to quell the hunger pains of newborn babies. The Gift of Life-Saving formula is essential for newborns who have lost their mothers or have breastfeeding difficulties. These THLPs (Tiny Humans of Limitless Potential) deserve a chance to thrive.

Life-Saving Formula in Action
Miriam is like many of the grandmothers we see at our Malnutrition Treatment Centers who have lost their daughters to challenges in childbirth.
When Miriam arrived at Second Mile Haiti her daughter just 8 days had passed since her daughter’s burial. Her tiny granddaughter, now 12 days old, was in desperate need of a bottle.
Without the money to buy powdered infant formula, Miriam wasn’t sure where to turn, but she was willing to do whatever she needed to do to save her grandchild. She turned to a friend who pointed her to Second Mile Haiti, where Baby Mikaelle received a medical evaluation and Miriam was handed a bottle filled with infant formula to fill the baby with the nutrition she craved.
The babies cries disappeared as she drank in the comforting food.
Making a Difference for Mikaelle
Karen, who donated two gifts of formula during last year’s Holiday Catalog, single-handedly gave baby Mikaelle a chance at life.
Every year, your gifts of Life-Saving Formula give more than 40 grandmother’s like Miriam and mothers who’ve had a hard time breastfeeding the chance to see their babies grow and live out their first 6 months of life with the essential nutrients needed for a healthy development. A donation of $51 puts 5 cans of infant formula on our shelves so that they are ready and waiting for the next newborn in need.
