Safe Births through Quality Prenatal Care
Quality prenatal care is a crucial service provided by midwives in Haiti, making childbirth safer for mothers and their babies. The Safe Birth program supplies midwives with essential tools for thorough prenatal care, such as iron supplements, antibiotics for infections, materials for tests like hemoglobin checks (including cotton and alcohol for sanitation), and urine collection cups to screen for potential infections. This support ensures a safer and healthier pregnancy journey for expectant mothers in Haiti.

Erin’s Gift: A Journey to Safer Childbirth
When Murielle, a young mother in Haiti, was told that she was expecting a baby she was filled with both joy and worry. On the day she learned she was pregnant, she also learned that she was severely anemic and anemia could make childbirth dangerous.
But Murielle’s story took a different turn, thanks to Erin’s generous gift of Safe Birth.
When Erin gave a Safe Birth, Second Mile Haiti was able to diagnose Murielle’s anemia and provide her with a full pregnancy’s worth of iron supplements. As a result, Murielle was able to experience her final weeks of pregnancy full of excitement and anticipation. She went into labor with added peace, knowing that she was no longer at a high-risk of a life-ending complication.
Erin’s gift was deeply meaningful because she remembered the fear of being told her own pregnancy was high risk. However, Erin’s midwife had been by her side through it all. Just like Erin, you can provide loving support and peace of mind to women in Haiti. Your gift of Safe Birth gives a woman in Haiti the possibility of a safe and joyful childbirth experience. #SafeBirthsSaveLives
